Festival of Cultures

Festival of Cultures week is Palmerston North City's biggest event celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our City. It is an annual event organised by Palmerston North City Council and MMC. The week has a series of events including The Festival of Cultures - World Fair Day, Parade of Cultures (Costume Parade), Lantern Parade/ Carnavale, Teas and Coffees of the World and various workshops/ seminars.

Festival of Cultures 2021

The Square burst into colour on Saturday 27 February from 10 am-4 pm celebrating the beautifully diverse cultural identity of our city. World Fair Day showcased a wide range of activities, family fun, performances, food and crafts from around the world. The fair kick-started at 10 am with the official opening ceremony beginning at 10:30 am. With local and international performers, over 100 food and craft stalls as well as a ‘Have-a-Go’ tent, there will be plenty for all the family to see and learn from different cultures. This is a free, family-friendly event taking place at a smoke-free and vape-free location.
